In 2006 the Woodcraft Folk were hosts to youth groups from all over the world as the Global Village project started in earnest. The project aims to empower young people to become actively involved in achieving the United Nations Millennium Development Goals. The information and activities on this website are open to youth groups, schools, and young people everywhere. The Global Village project is being undertaken by the Woodcraft Folk on behalf of the International Falcon Movement (IFM-SEI). Global Village Youth Festival 2006 took place between 29 July - 9 August 2006. From across the planet, over 6000 people met for 10 days at the Kent Showground, near Maidstone. As well as an on-site local radio station and a daily paper, there was a video news broadcast most evenings. The media content and production was left mainly in the hands of the Festival participants (of any age).
